I was thrilled when some relative gave me a crystal radio for my birthday. Wiki describes it as: A crystal radio receiver, also called a crystal set, was a simple radio receiver, popular in the 1960s and earlier. It uses only the power of the received radio signal to produce sound, needing no external power. Which for me meant an extra gift – no extra expense in batteries by me.

I was thrilled when some relative gave me a crystal radio for my birthday.

I remember connecting a simple antenna to the radiator and using the ear piece for my personal use and introducing myself to late night (after 9 PM) rock and roll music courtesy of Wolfman Jack.

I owe some aunt or uncle or parent or grandparent one big ‘Thank You.’

And thank you Retrospect for reminding me.
