Woman who carried scissors as weapon ends up in court - Daily Record

Imagine if my umbilical cord had not been cut many years ago!

I love cutting the modern day cord, why?

Portability: I can access the internet anywhere within range of a router and without cables.
Ease of setup: We can set up a wireless network without having to run wires or drill holes.
Flexibility: I can connect multiple devices such as computers, tablets, smartphones, and speakers without cables or adapters.
Communication: I can transfer data faster and more reliably than with wired networks.
Cost-effectiveness: I save money on wiring and maintenance costs now and forever.
ps the computer power contained in today’s smart phones is greater than that used by  Apollo 11 for the moon landing; more memory, more speed, more storage. Amazing!

You have listed great reasons, Kevin. Unfortunately, the Internet we have in both our homes is really unpredictable (perhaps because it is not up-to-date and both homes are hard-wired). So we have found it difficult to cut the cord. Maybe you can come and make us current. That would be really helpful!

  2. Laurie Levy says:

Progress is indeed amazing. Many of us are trying hard to keep up!

Kevin, my son’s just like you. He loves all the internet offers. We’re close so his love of tech rubs off on me but only to a certain degree. I don’t have cameras stashed throughout my home. I don’t have smart lighting or ring doorbell, or several ‘Alexas’ only one. Actually my sister thought of the umbilical cord when I told her this week’s prompt. Yes , as far as tech goes we’re like night and day.

  4. Khati Hendry says:

Wireless is great as long as tech doesn’t fail.

My main gripe with telecommunications as it exists today is that as a photographer, I love big monitors and proper composition, while the world seems to be resigned to 10-12 square inch screens and execrable vertical framing!
